Turning 65 feels like crossing a threshold—one that’s rich with wisdom, laughter, and stories worth telling. But if there’s one truth I’ve learned, it’s this: age may be just a number, but time is everything when it comes to our health.

Whether it’s a heart attack, stroke, or another critical condition, the difference between life and loss often comes down to how quickly we act. So today, as I celebrate this milestone, I want to share a message that’s close to my heart—literally.

The Heart Doesn't Wait

A heart attack strikes when blood flow to the heart is blocked. Every minute that passes without treatment means more damage to the heart muscle. That’s why early intervention is essential:

    • Recognize the signs: Chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, or discomfort in the arms, back, or jaw.
    • Call 911 immediately: Don't wait to "see if it passes." Time lost is heart lost.
    • Know your numbers: Blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels are silent storytellers of your heart's future.

Studies show that 90% of people survive a heart attack when treated promptly. But surviving is just the beginning—thriving means embracing lifestyle changes that keep your heart strong.

Stroke: Time Is Brain

A stroke happens when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. In this case, every minute counts—because for each minute without oxygen, nearly 1.9 million brain cells die.

Here's what to remember:

  • F.A.S.T.: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911.
  • Treatment within 3 hours can dramatically reduce disability.
  • Know your risks: High blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking are major contributors.
